Who We Are:

What is Perimeter Youth Mentoring Ministry?

Perimeter Youth Mentoring Ministry is a Christian outreach that provides relationships between caring, adult role models and fatherless or motherless children to assist in developing their fullest potential for the glory of God.

Why Perimeter Youth Mentoring Ministry?

James 1:27 calls us "to look after orphans and widows in their distress and to keep oneself from being polluted by the world."

The research shows that over 50% of children in America are experiencing the pain of father abandonment before they reach 18 years of age. Fatherless homes lead to a myriad of problems in youth: teen pregnancy, rape, murder, suicide, high school dropouts, runaways, and behavioral disorders that lead to a life of poor choices.

By committed adults investing their time and building relationships, the studies show that mentored youth are more likely to: improve in school, avoid self-destructive activities, and gain hope and vision for a brighter future.

Who do we serve?

Children, 8-15 years of age of single parents who have an absent or deceased spouse.

Parents of children should be members or long-time attendees of Perimeter Church or children who participate in Camp All American.

How do we do it?

Adult mentors are matched with children based on discernment, interests, and location. Volunteer mentors undergo screening, interviews, and must take training in order to serve. Based on the outcome, mentors commit to spending 2-4 hours a week with the child for a period of at least one year.

Children and their families are interviewed by the ministry director. Children must desire to be in this ministry in order to participate.

Supervision of matches is provided by facilitators to provide advice, resources, and support to aid in developing an ongoing relationship between the youth, mentor, and family.
